TT RACES
The Isle of Man TT is one of the greatest spectacles on Earth. No other circuit in the world compares to the 37 mile plus Mountain Course with its never-ending bends, bumps, jumps, stone walls, manhole covers and telegraph poles. Fast speeds of up to 200mph can leave you breathless and there’s an almost bewildering choice of vantage points to watch from.
The course has many places where you can stand or sit in a hedge watching free of charge or you can purchase a seat in a fanzone or Grandstand. For the ultimate Isle of Man TT experience you must watch at least one session from TT Grandstand in Douglas. This iconic building offers unrivalled views of the start/finish line and the 170mph-plus stretch as the racers complete one circuit and blast towards Bray Hill and another lap of the course.
You also have clear views of the pit lane, where races have been won and lost, and the podium where the top three from each race will receive their trophies, laurels and champagne.
The TT Grandstand is adjacent to the paddock, where you can watch the teams at work and meet some of the competitors. The Grandstand is also home to the scrutineering area, where you can watch the machines being inspected, press centre, where the top riders are grilled after each race, and much more.
The TT is run over a two week period, the first week being the practice/qualifying week which has evening practice sessions starting around 6 pm through to 9 pm.
Race week which is the second week sees racing on alternate days, so the first race is on a Saturday then Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Practice week is the quieter of the two weeks and also sees cheaper deals on the ferries and hotels, also consider that you are likely to see more action than the races as more laps are done during this week.
Race week is a lot busier, it’s the week everyone wants to be here but due to demand prices are higher and things sell out quicker. Races take place on alternate days which are Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
You have to book early if you want to be part of the electric atmosphere and exhilarating action. We are already full for 2016 but our diary is now open for 2017.
PRACTICE WEEK BEGINS SAT 27TH MAY 2017
